Lucas on his role in X Men First Class

Hitfix.com had the opportunity to interview Lucas at the X Men: First Class DVD launch, where he shared some of his thoughts on his character Alex Summers/Havok

Till’s biggest problem in playing Havok was apparently trying to look cool while shooting plasma blasts out of his chest – pretty small potatoes compared to his co-stars, if you ask me.

“The first time when I blow up the statue, I remember…practicing in my hotel room, looking in the mirror, like ‘Oh, what is that gonna look like? Oh yeah, that’s better-looking’,” he recounted as he feigned staring at his reflection. “And then throw that out the window when [John] Dykstra shows me the pre-vis, and it’s like these rings coming out of my body, and I’m [like] ‘okay…’ And then Matthew’s like ‘Now, imagine hula hoops are coming out of your body’. And I was like ‘I wanted to be a superhero my entire life, and you’re gonna make me do a hula hoop dance.”

Nevertheless, Till was ultimately happy with the on-screen results.

“It just turned out so well, you know? It’s something i can really be proud of,” he said, before adding about a possible sequel: “But I would say…I’d like Hank to make me some gauntlets or something [in the sequel] so I can shoot out of my hands…I think it would be cool.”

Two more added to Crush

Two more actors have signed up to be in Lucas’ new movie Crush which is still currently filming. The actors joining Lucas are Leigh Whannell and Caitriona Balfe.

Variety is reporting Leigh Whannell and Caitriona Balfe will star in Crush, written by Sonny Mallhi (The Roommate).

Whannell co-created, and starred in, Saw and was seen earlier this year in Insidious.

The actors join Lucas Till, Sarah Boger, Crystal Reed, Reid Ewing and Camille Guaty. Malik Bader directs.

Thematically similar to The Roommate, this thriller also plays on obsession. This time, a high school athlete (played by Till) is the target of a dangerous obsession from an admirer.

VS review

tdotcomics has written a short review on the movie Vs which stars Lucas as Ben/Cutthroat and its a pretty good review:

Wednesday, October 26th the Toronto After Dark Film Festival and TdotComics were proud to co-present the world premiere of VS, a dark superhero thriller. The theatre was almost at capacity as we all braced for the ride ahead. The film follows four teenaged superheroes, Charge, The Wall, Shadow, and Cutthroat, as they awake to realize they have been kidnapped by their old nemesis Rickshaw who has a twisted game planned for them. This is the set up for a much darker and grimmer super hero film than we are used to.

The film gets right into the game: all the characters have awoken with their powers stripped, and Rickshaw appears on the TV to direct them to their doom. The objective of the game is to save the innocent civilians rigged up to death traps around the town and to stay alive. We learn about the characters through their interactions with each other and the occasional flashback. From what we can tell they have been this hero team for a while, but it is hard to keep all the conflicting personalities working together. I like this aspect of the movie – the feeling like so much has preceded this particular story – it gives the characters more depth.
